I have created meaning in my film through the use of mise en scene.
Costume
I asked my actors to turn up in smart business wear to give the impression the the audience that they are working n a professional policing environment. i also had my extras wear white over alls to look like they are forensic investigators working in the scene and build the iconography of the scene.
Sound
I have also looked into creating meaning thought the use of sound i.e. a police siren sound in the back ground of a scene to give connotations of the police operations or ambient noise of a helicopter over head would give the audience the impression of a man hunt.
Acting gesture
To make my main protagonist seem more powerful i made opportunities in the script where he had the ability to define his dominance over the other characters i.e. when questioned about his ability in the meeting he puts the other detective in their place and when they find the dead body and Kieron is sick it shows that Derrick is more a more seasoned detective.
Props
I includes props in my film i.e. the paper with the victims faces on it gives the audience an indication of the genre of the film and indicates that there is a back story to this narrative and quickly explains this to the audience by giving the victims a face and name.
Editing techniques
I planned to use an eye line match after the explosion so that the audience feels empathy with the characters and understand the severity of the explosion and how it has effected the narraitve. I have also included an LUT filter to make the film seem more dramatic to the audiecne and it alos fits the conventions of my genre.
