INT. PRISON INTERVIEW ROOM: SCENE
1
DERRICK is sat at the interview table and CHROSTOPHER is walked
in by the guard.
CHRISTOPHER
I’m glad you agreed to see
me detective.
DERRICK
I’m not here for you…I’m here to find out what you did with
them.
CHRISTOPHER
Done with who?
DERRICK (angry)
You know exactly who.
DERRICK slams a file with pictures of the victims on the table.
DERRICK (CONT’D)
Michal Shepard, April Denton, Oliver Curtis, Frazer Mclean,
Simon Grey and…
CHRISTOPHER
And…
DERRICK
Jessica James…my wife.
CHRISTOPHER
I’m so
touched that you remembered my accomplishments, but those secrets are for my own keeping.
DERRICK
Then this conversations over, enjoy the rest of your life in
this shit hole.
DERRICK stands up from his chair to and walks to the door. The
guard unlocks the door
CHRISTOPHER (SHOUTING)
Are you ready detective?
DERRICK stops in the door way and then turns around
DERRICK
Ready
for what?
CHRISTOPHER

more to die?
A moment passes before DERRICK turs around and leaves
INT.DERRICK AND KIERAN’S DESK: SCENE 2 CUT
TO:
Four days have passed. DERRICK is sat at his desk on the phone
being frustrated. KIERAN DOUGLAS is at the desk next to him
DERRICK (on the phone)
Yes, yes, I know but if you can just come down to the station we
can…
Phone call hangs up
DERRICK (CONT’D)
Hello…hello…
DERRICK slams phone
DERRICK(CONT’D
Fuck
sake!
KIERAN
Everything
ok boss?
DERRICK
Yeah,
same shit different day.
KIERAN
I know,
things can only get better boss.
The inspector emerges from his office and signals over to
DERRICK’S desk.
INSPECTOR
DERRICK
DERRICK
I
wouldn’t count on it.
DERRICK stands up from his chair.
KIERAN
Don’t
start a fight.
DERRICK looks back amused then enters the office then shortly
after starts arguing then storms out and sits in his desk with his head in his
hands.
KIERAN
Everything
ok boss?
DERRICK looks over to the TV, KIERAN dose the same. It shows a
news report that CHRISTOPHER LUCAS has escaped from prison. DERRICK and KIERAN
exchange shocked looks.
INT. Briefing board Scene

The team working on the case has been assembled in front of a
board of evidence. DERRICK and KIERAN is stood beside giving details about the
case
DERRICK
As we all know earlier today Christopher Lucas escaped from
prison. He is extremely dangerous and is likely to kill again. We have no
likely leads at this point so we need to start by going back and combing over
every piece of evidence and clue from his last case to try and find out where
he is going next. Just like before he was in prison, he has no friends on the
outside world that we know of and no personal relationships, so likely to be
working alone. He is also schizophrenic and without medication will be
extremely unstable and he’s not going to be able to stay on the move and is going
to need to hold up somewhere.
KIERAN
Based on his previous case he’ll be looking for somewhere
isolated and away from prying eyes. It’s only a matter of time until he breaks
from cover and that’s when we need to be there to catch him.
A person in the briefing raises their hand. KIERAN points at
them
KIERAN
Yes?
DETECTIVE FROM THE CROWD (to
DERRICK)
If you don’t mind my asking, how come your leading this case? I
mean no offence but aren’t you a bit personally involved after what happened to
your wife?
The crowd of detectives mumble at what was just said.
DERRICK (Angry)
My ability to catch this bastard will not be hindered by my
personal feelings and if anyone else feels I am incompetent of doing my job
there’s the door!
DERRICK points to the door, The detective looks embarrassed as
the crowd falls silent.
DERRICK
Time is of the essence people, everyone out there is a potential
target. Let’s get to work.
INT. DERRCK and KIERAN’S desk Scene 4 CUT
TO:
9am the next morning, DERRICK is sat at his desk as KIERAN puts
a cup of coffee down in front of him
KIERAN
Here
you go boss.
DERRICK
Thanks,
Kieran.
KIERAN crashes into his chair
KIERAN (exhausted)
Ugh…we have gone over every aspect of old evidence and still no
closer to finding him.
DERRICK
I know, but there is no way he would just get up and go with no
idea of where he’s going next, he’s had this planned. Any news from the prison?
KIERAN picks up a piece of paper from the desk
KIERAN
The report from the prison said that there is no CCTV recording
showing his escape and forensics said that there is no evidence of him even
being inside that cell never mind getting out or planning his escape and he had
no personal belongings inside his cell. I mean how can he stay there for 5
years and just walk out? Any luck on your end boss?
DERRICK
No, but he’s going to get cocky soon and make a mistake and we
need to be their when he does, but in the mean time we need to keep looking.
KIERAN
It says in this report that you went to see him a few days ago.
What did he say to you?
DERRICK (BLUNTLY)
Nothing, don’t worry about
it.
INT. DS MALOCM’S DESK Scene
5
DS MALCOM (SHOUTING)
Boss
I’ve got something!
DERRICK and KIERAN get up and stand over the desk CUT TO:
DERRICK
What you got, ?
DS MALCOM
I’ve found a storage container that belonged to LUCAS’S mother.
After she died all her positions fell to Christopher, as he was in prison at
the time of her death all the possessions were either destroyed or auctioned
off, apart from a storage container, after payments stopped the owner scheduled
it for auction in 3 weeks’ time.
DERRICK
It’s a
long shot but worth a try.
DERRICK taps DS MALCOM on the shoulder and walks to the exit
DERRCIK(CONT’D)
Thanks, Send the address to
my phone.
KIERAN
Don’t
you think armed response to go in first?
DERRICK
No,
it’d be a complete waste of time. Come on let’s go.
DERRICK (TO DS MALCOLM)
Tell
them were on our way
DS MALCOLM
Sure
thing boss.
DERRICK leaves followed by KIERAN, DS MALCOLM dials her phone
EXT.OUTSIDE STORAGE CONTAINER Scene 6 CUT TO:
KIERAN is speaking to the owner of the containers
KIERAN (to the owner)
Ok
thank you
KIERAN walks over to DERRICK
KIERAN
Given the circumstances he’s happy for us to look inside and
he’s collecting the CCTV from the front desk from the past few days for us.
DERRICK
Good,
lets open it up and see what we’ve got.
DERRICK picks up bolt cutters and steps forward to the container
KIERAN
Boss, are you sure you’re ok to do this…you don’t know what this
creep could be hiding in here.
DERRICK
The
sooner we find him the sooner I’ll be fine.
DERRICK cuts the padlocks and opens the doors to the container
KIERAN and DERRICK point torches into the container and pause
for a moment
DERRICK (SHOCKED)
Shit.
KIERAN vomits outside
DERRICK
I’ll
call this in.
Forensics have arrived and taped of the scene. DERRICK and
KIERAN are stood by the car.
EXT. STORAGE CONTAINERS Scene
7 CUT TO:
Forensics and other officers are on scene. DERRICK walks over to
KIERAN.
DERRICK
You ok
pal?
DERRICK gives KIERAN a bottle of water, he spits the water out.
KIERAN
Yeah, I’ll be fine, just wasn’t expecting that…have you got
anything from the scene?
DERRICK
No, it’s still too early to identify the body. it’s going to be
hard without the head, and any other evidence is covered in blood.
KIERAN
What
about…?
KIERAN is interrupted by repeated thudding in the distance.
Everyone’s alerted.
DERRICK (to the officers
behind)
You two
stay here you come with us.
DERRICK and KIERAN leads officers to a container.
EXT.SECOND STORAGE CONTAINER Scene 8 CUT TO:
DERRICK
Hand me
the bolt cutters…Bolt cutters now!
Bolt cutters are handed forward to DERRICK and he cuts the lock.
DERRICK and KIERAN both ready to open the door.
DERRICK (to KIERAN)
You
ready?
KIERAN nods. They open the container and a girl bolts out
Screaming into KIERANS arms
KIERAN
It’s
ok, its ok. We’re the police.
KIERAN removes the tape from her mouth. DERRICK looks shook.
INT.POLICE STATION INERVIEW ROOM Scene 9
CUT TO:
DERRICK and the girl from the container (Sara) sit across the table
from each other. SARA looks fragile.
DERRICK
Sara, I
know it’s been a long night for you ,but I need to ask you a few more questions. Do you feel up to that?
SARA
Yes.
DERRICK slides a picture of CHRISTOPHER LUCAS across the table.
SARA takes a moment to look at it.
DERRICK
Do you
recognise this man?
SARA
NO.
DERRICK
What
was the last thing you remember before you were found?
SARA (upset)
I was getting out of my car on Ericson Street to go and meet my
boyfriend in his flat. The next think I know it all went black. And then I woke
up in that container just before you found me.
DERRICK
What is
your boyfriends name if you don’t mind my asking?
SARA
Oliver
Green…Why?
DERRICK
Would you be able to help us by looking at some pictures of a
body we found. I must warn you the photos are quite graphic.
SARA (WORRIED)
Has
something happened to Oliver?
DERRICK
I don’t know, that’s why I need you to look at these pictures
because if this isn’t him, he’s most likely in danger.
SARA nods
SARA
Yes,
I’ll take a look.
DERRICK slides a folder across the table. SARA opens the folder
and then breaks down crying.
DERRICK
I’m
sorry for your loss.
DS MALCOM ENTERS
DS MALCOM
Boss.
DERRICK stands up and holds SARA’S hands
DERRICK
Someone
will be right back I promise.
DERRICK leaves
INT.CORRIDOOOR Scene 10 CUT TO:
DS MALCOM
Sorry
to pull you out of there but its urgent.
DERRICK
what is
it?
DS MALCOM
I’ve been looking through the CCTV from the front desk of the
storage place and…
DERRICK
And
what?
DS MALCOM
He held
up this.
DS MALCOM shows DERRICK a still from the CCTV
DERRICK
Does
anyone else know about this?
DS MALCOM
No, I thought you should be first to know. Do you want me to get
armed response ready for you?
DERRICK
No I’ll see to it. Can you make sure someone sees to her in
there?
DS MALCOM
Sure thing
boss.
DERRICK exits down the corridor.
INT.DERRICK AND KIERANS DESK Scene 11 CUT TO:
DERRICK enters, picks up his jacket.
KIERAN
Where
you going boss?
DERRICK
Out.
EXT. PUB Scene 12 CUT TO:
DERRICK gets out of his car and looks up at the pub and then
proceeds to enter
INT.PUB Scene 13 CUT TO:
DERRICK pushes the door open and enters the pub.
DERRICK (Shouting)
I got your little message…I’m done playing your game.
CHRISTOPHER hits him over the head and knocks him out.
DERRICK wakes up tied to a chair. CHRISTOPHER is pacing front of
him with a hammer
CHRISTOPHER
I’m so glad you took up on my invitation detective, I was
worried you wouldn’t show. Or you might have turned up with some unwanted
company, but I know that’s not your style.
CHRISTOPHER puts his face in front of DERRICK’S
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
You see, your just like me.
DERRICK
I’m
nothing like you.
CHROSTOPHER
Oh, I’m hurt you’d say that. But just like me you’re interested
in retribution and revenge that’s why you came here alone. The last thing you
want is some trigger happy copper taking your one and only shot at getting your
hands on me.
CHRISTOPHER stands up
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
But I couldn’t allow that now could I? because if you got your
hands on me you would be asking all sorts of questions about your wife and no
one wants to hear all those gruesome details.
CHRISTOPHER leans in close to DERRICK
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
But I will tell you
something, she screamed the most.
CHROSTOPHER unties one of DERRICKS hands and slams it on a
table.
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
I’m going to make sure that you never get your hands on me.
CHRISTOPHER hammers a nail through his hand into the table as
DERRICK screams
INT.POLICE STATION Scene

KIERAN gets up and goes over to DS MALCOMS desk
KIERAN
Has
Derrick come back yet?
DS MALCOM
No.
Didn’t you go with him?
KIERAN
Go
where?
DS MALCOM
To this address,
DS MALCOM shows him the still from the CCTV. KIERAN looks
shocked.
DS MALCOM (COND’T)
I showed it him earlier. He said he was getting armed response
ready.
KIERAN
When
did you show him this?
DS MALCOM
About
half an hour ago. Why?
KIERAN
Get on
the phone to armed response, get them to meet me there.
KIERAN runs out and DS MALCOM dials the phone.
DS MALCOLM (On the phone)
Hello I
need an 8 man team heading to the following address…
INT.FLAT Scene 15 CUT TO:
DERRICK is groaning, CHROSTOPHER is sat in front of him.
CHRISTOPHER
Do you
know what I was doing all that time in prison?
DERRICK
Planning
how you’re going to escape and boar me to death?
CHRISTOPHER
Ha. No,
I was wondering what it would be like to kill you, what it would like to see the life leave
your eyes.
DERRICK
Oh How charming, are you going to sit there all day or are you
going to get on with it?
CHRISTOPHER
But now
I’ve got you right where I want you I realise
CHRISTOPHER lays power tools out on the table
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
It
would be much more fun to pick you apart…piece by piece
INT.KIERAN’S CAR SCENE 16 CUT TO:
KIERAN’S driving whilst on the phone to DS MALCOM
KIERAN
Malcolm,
which way now?
INT. DS MALCOM’S desk SCENE
17 CUT TO:
DS MALCOLM
Take
the next left, then carry straight on.
INT.KIERAN’S CAR SCENE 18
KIERAN
How far
away is armed response?

Minutes away, Helicopter’s en route as well.
INT.KIERANS CAR SCENE 20 CUT:TO
KIERAN
They’ll
be too late!
KIERAN hangs up
INT.FLAT Scene 21 CUT TO:
CHRISTOPHER
Before I cut you into small chunks of meat, would you like to
know where the remains of your wife are?
DERRICK stare at him angrily
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
I’m going to tell you anyway. she is where she described as “my
favourite place in the world” do you remember?
DERRICK
Wait…you
mean…
CHRISTOPHER
Yes, it was perfect really so secluded and peaceful and the best
part is you’ve practically been walking past her every day and once I’m done
with you, you’ll be there to, just another trapped soul in my collection.
CHRISTOPHER starts up a power tool
CHRISTOPHER (CONT’D)
Oh well
that’s enough chit chat.
The door is kicked open.
POLICE OFFICER (shouting)
Armed police!
CHRISOPHER runs the police follow him
POLICE OFFICER (shouting)
Freeze!
Two gunshot fire
KIERAN runs over to DERRICK
KIERAN (SHOUTING)
Boss
you ok? This man needs a medic, common stay with me.
EXT.HANNAH PARK WOODS SCENE
22 CROSS FADE:
Forensic are combing the area, DERRICK is watching with his hand
in a sling. KIERAN walks over with two cups of coffee and hands one to DERRICK.
KIERAN
Here
you go Boss.
DERRICK
Thanks.
KIERAN
Have
they found anything yet?
DERRICK
No its going to take a while to go over this area. We don’t even
know if he was telling the truth, and we never will now.
KIERAN
Yeah…Oh
yeah, forensics released this.
KIERAN hands him a evidence bag with a wedding ring in it.
KIERAN
They found it with some of his belongings. They said it’s yours
to keep if you want.
DERRICK
She
never let it out of her sight.
KIERAN
You
going to be alright Boss?
DERRICK
You
know what…I finally think I will be.
KIERAN
Good to
hear Boss.
DERICK pats KIERAN on the back
DERRICK
Come
on, breakfast’s on me.
KIERAN and DERRICK turn around and walk away talking between
themselves.

grenade rigged to the inside of the door.
DERRICK
(SHOUTING)
Grenade!
Everyone takes cover. the grenade functions .DERRICK scrambles on the floor.
