The Radio recording
I recorded the radio broadcast that said that Christopher Lucas had escaped from prison. To make is sound more like the recording was coming out of a speaker/radio i edited the sound in Adobe Audition using the distortion effect, I also faded in and out the radio broadcast to make the sound enter the visuals more smoothly.
Hissing noise in dialogue
The recording of dialogue when Derrick is asking Kieran if he is ok. ( MVI_9948,MOV)
As the audio was recorded using a directional microphone mounted on the camera, as it picked up a hissing noise along with some back ground noise, in an effort to try and remove this i created a noise print of the hissing and used ' Adaptive noise reduction' i noticed that the more of an effort i made to remove the hissing noise the more distorted the vocals became, so instead of compromising my dialogue i removed as much of the hiss i could before it started effecting the vocals.
Ambient noise
In the office scene i have added in ambient office noise to create the illusion that their are multiple people working in the office and also establish to the audience the location that they are working in. I sourced my ambient office noise off a creative commons website meaning i avoided The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act.
Sting
In the transition after they discover the body, when the police tape is pulled across. I used a police siren sound effect which i got off of a copyright free website. The sting sound effect helps to build the mise en scene of the crime scene by using an iconic sound.
Bed
I have used a bed sound from a copyright free web site which allows me to avoid the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act. This bed starts just after they hear a banging noise in the distance, this is to build up suspense in the narrative and give the idea to the audience that something is about to happen.
Foley
To make it sound more realistic to the audience i have added in a Foley sound of a small metal object being dropped, i found this sound on a creative commons website, The sound was perfect for creating the illusion that a pin was being pulled out of a grenade, Making it seem more like it was a real grenade and not a plastic prop.
